“May You Live in Interesting Times.”

Kurt Schlicter in Townhall has written an interesting piece, The Only Way to Restore the Norms Is to Finish Them Off.

Excerpt:

The Democrats are a disorganized crime family. They are all corrupt, really corrupt, not “Some money to settle a dizzy tramp’s sex claims got mischaracterized in the books” corrupt. And that makes them vulnerable.

Remember, all those norms and principles they cavalierly pillage are not really there to protect us. We’re not crooks and we have all the guns – nothing to hide and the power to rule. Norms are to protect them. So let’s stop protecting them.

For a long time, we had a norm about trying not to prosecute political opponents even when we could. You beat them at the ballot box. But then they got more brazen, and there was no ambiguity about their crimes. They were actual crimes, and they rubbed them in our face. The Felonia Milhouse von Pantsuit toilet server stuff struck a nerve because so many of us knew what a big deal treating classified materials like her husband treated interns is (or was) – if we had done that, we’d be charged and in some fed pen converting large rocks to tiny ones. But she did not get charged. That looming doofus James Comey invented a new legal requirement for the statute that never existed before and never would exist if it was us. And there’s the First Crackhead buying a gun when he’s a drug addict – again, you know that if we lied on a Form 4473 the AFT would be SWATing us in our cribs. They took the sensible norm of reluctance and mocked us with it.

So, let’s not do that anymore. Let’s not bend over backwards to avoid charging our political enemies with their crimes. And if we have to be creative about the crimes and create novel new theories to ensnare our opponents, so be it. Alvin Bragg was creative. That’s the New Rule. Let’s see how they like being served up a dose of that kind of legal suppository.

“BUT THE RULE OF LAW!!!!”

Yeah, what rule of law is that?

Lawfare works both ways. But remember what Prof. Codevilla warned us about, it’s not Republicans vs. Democrats, its us against the Ruling Class. The Ruling Class is an exclusive club, and we ain’t in it. And the Ruling Class control the DAs and the Courts.

RTWT, but I think Schlicter mssed out on the Ruling Class angle.

  1. “I want to see the next GOP DOJ investigating how Nancy Pelosi did so well in the stock market, how Maxine Waters got so rich, how close Ted Lieu and his boy Ed Buck really were. ”
wouldn’t you need like some INVESTIGATORS or something like that to investigate crimes? are we confident now that we can count on the fblie to go after the dims when the potus changes?

    1. Exactly the problem.

I fully expect any investigations launched by Republicans to have the same “We investigated ourselves and determined that we did nothing wrong, or if we did it was no big deal” flavor that James Comey brought to Hillary’s violations of the Espionage Act.

  2. Kurt Schlicter makes a good point, the norms can’t and won’t return without burning them down and rebuilding them. But I agree, he’s focusing too much on “Democrats vs. Republicans” and not enough on “Ruling Class vs. the Rest of Us”.

The sooner people with his media reach realize that the GOP is just as corrupt and controlling as the Democrats (they just want to control different stuff), the better. The Ruling Class consists of both sides; the only difference is that the Left is more blatant about their “special” status and privileges that don’t apply to the rest of us. The GOP leadership takes the same bribes from the same money laundering schemes, uses the same insider knowledge to game the markets for personal profit, and enjoys the same “prosecutorial discretion” to keep them and theirs out of trouble. They just do it more quietly.

    1. I was taught as a child to meet whatever comes to you, be it praise or damnation, on your feet with your eyes open and your head up.

  3. The left prove over and over every damn day of the week that they have only ONE RULE. WIN! By whatever means required. They have shown repeatedly for years that rule, regulations and laws simply DO NOT APPLY to them. Those pesky things are nothing but convenient tools THEY use to abuse US. There is only ONE solution to the problem of a ruling criminal class. Ropes….miles and miles of ropes attached to thousands and thousands of trees. Each piece of rope terminating in a dangling demonrat criminal. If you lack rope than high speed lead to the back of their cranium works also. Not willing to do that? Then THEY WIN. Period.

    1. I still stand by my personal favorite method of capital punishment, mainly for the deterrent value:

      1. Cuff the dirtbag hand and foot.
      2. Put the dirtbag in a junk car.
      3. Put the car in a car crusher.
      4. Push the button.
      5. Five minutes later, the dirtbag is free to go.

Simple, fast, efficient and reliable. For extra deterrence, require everyone who does any jail time at all to witness one. Who knows, their own imagination may save them from landing on death row one day.

      1. Your method has style. Problem is there are way too many leftists and not nearly enough crushers to deal with the problem anywhere quickly enough.
