Because when an armed citizen is present, it isn’t a “mass shooting.”
FBI Reveals How Many Active Shooters Were Stopped by Citizens Excerpt;
The FBI announced Monday that citizens stopped six active shooters in 2021, according to a report on active shooting incidents.
Citizens stopped six active shooters, whom the FBI defines as “one or more individuals actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a populated area,” in 2021, killing four of them, according to the report “Active Shooter Incidents In The United States In 2021.” There were 61 active shooter incidents in 2021, 12 of which met the FBI’s criteria for a “mass killing,” up from 40 the previous year.
Carry your gun. It’s a much lighter burden than regret.
Indeed.
And yet, social media is full of progressive screechings: “This doesn’t happen in __fill in the blank__”. Teachers mournfully inform us “they have done all they can”, (followed by a list of everything EXCEPT being prepared to shoot back) and now it’s congress’ time to act.
How can we let this keep happening? Is the anguish.
And yes, I share that anguish. I’m tired of children falling to evil.
As I’ve said elsewhere:
“If you’re not willing to pick up a gun to protect children from evil, then maybe you’re part of the problem. And if you’ve acted so as to make that impossible, there is nothing “maybe” about it.”
This applies to every cop who waited around for an hour while parents begged them to storm the place, and it also applies to anyone who ever accepted the Democratic Party Narrative and voted to foist it upon others.
The sickening reality is that the factions are deadlocked. One will in fact shoot back, and another will act to prevent that, because the only outcome they will accept is to change our society of free humans into someonething else.
And yet, they screech, tirelessly and tunlessly “I want to live in a country that loves its children more than guns.”
Nope. Not accepting the blame. That blood is NOT on my hands. My hands are perfectly willing and able to use my guns to SHOOT THE HELL BACK.
When evil is at the door with a rifle, all questions of motive, history, and mental illness are entirely irrelevant.
If you’re not willing to shoot back, then maybe you’re the problem.
If you’ve acted to prevent people from doing that, there’s nothing maybe about it. You aid and abet evil.
And these are just the ‘active’ shooters. Who knows how many ‘other’ shootings were stopped by someone with a CCW before it went sideways?
We seem to have forgotten the principle of keeping things simple, opting for a more convoluted course of complicating even the most simple task, all for progress and the sake of “convenience”, to achieve the same ends. Take for instance the car. How complicated it has become and it still takes you from point A to point B. You can kill someone with a rock, you can kill someone with a gun (even an unloaded one), a knife, a stick, a hammer, scissors, knitting needles, etc. The common denominator is the human. None of them kill anyone, only the human can do that intentionally.
When everyone is armed, there are no victims! Perhaps we need to start looking for our moral compass and using it once again.
Perhaps this sums it up more eloquently;
I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them to obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do. An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life.

So according to the FBI, in 2021 there were 61 events classed as “active shooter” incidents, and 6 were stopped by armed civilians.
That’s nearly 10% stopped before police arrived.
What’s the overall percentage of people who carry daily? 6%? 5%? Lower in some places, certainly. (In Oregon, for example, we have about 4.4 million people, only about 200k of whom hold active CHLs. That’s under 5% licensed; the number who carry daily will be lower than that.)
And yet, armed citizens stopped nearly 10% of “active shooter” incidents — again, according to the FBI — which is a number significantly higher than I would expect, given the number of licensees.
That could be attributed to any or all of several factors, but off the cuff, it seems to me — doubly so given the dismal and disastrous police responses in Uvalde, Texas, and Parkland, Florida — that private citizens who carry personal firearms might just run toward the sound of gunfire more often and more effectively than police do.
The small sample sizes preclude drawing many definitive conclusions, of course, but it is a possibility.
